Project Overview

Jessie Lord Bakery (JLB) is a food processing facility and supplier who specializes in pie baking. They are known for maintaining traditional methods of production beginning with fresh ingredients and cooking from scratch. To reduce energy usage, lower GHG emissions, and decrease operating costs, Jessie Lord Bakery set out to upgrade the facility’s existing steam/hot water system and refrigeration system with more efficient equipment. The awarded grant included the following measures:

  • Replacement and redesign existing main R-22 refrigeration system with a CO2/NH3 cascade system.
  • Replacement of the existing boiler with smaller high efficiency boilers with integrated stack economizers.
  • Insulation of steam/hot water piping.

Imperion collaborated with the customer and contractors to develop the FPIP grant package, including:

  • Quantification of energy and GHG emission savings
  • Development of the project budget
  • Development of the project schedule
  • CEQA exemption determination
  • Attained letters of support from community-based organizations, politicians, and industry stakeholders
  • Engineering review of proposed solutions and technologies
