Climate Disclosure Inventory and Reporting

Imperion partnered with a Central Valley food processor to develop and manage a comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and climate disclosure program aligned with leading reporting frameworks and evolving customer sustainability requirements. As large retailers and brand owners increasingly require supplier-level transparency into Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions, the client sought a structured, defensible and repeatable approach to emissions accounting and sustainability reporting.

The Imperion team developed a full-scope GHG inventory in accordance with the GHG Protocol, including organizational boundary definitions, base-year selection, recalculation policies, emissions factor documentation, and data-verification procedures. The engagement included preparation of a detailed internal climate disclosure report outlining emissions by scope, biogenic emissions, data limitations and reduction initiatives. It also included a forward-looking action plan tied to near-term (2030) and long-term (2050) targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) guidance.

In addition to annual CDP disclosure support, Imperion will manage ongoing internal tracking of energy consumption, refrigerant leakage, fuel use, and other emissions drivers. This ensures consistency between internal reporting and external disclosures, while positioning the client for long-term success in decarbonization and increased supply chain competitiveness.

Through Imperion’s structured inventory development and disclosure strategy, the client significantly strengthened the quality, consistency and credibility of its climate reporting. By formalizing methodologies, improving documentation, and aligning disclosures with best practices, the company improved its CDP score by 2 whole letter grades, demonstrating measurable progress in governance, risk management and emissions transparency.

The standardized GHG framework also streamlined Supplier LoCT reporting, reduced internal administrative burden, and increased confidence in data accuracy across departments.

Most importantly, the client now has a clear line of sight into its emissions profile and reduction opportunities, enabling leadership to make informed operational and capital planning decisions tied directly to long-term sustainability goals.
