Blue Diamond Growers (BDG) is a century-old agricultural cooperative and global consumer packaged goods leader best known for their almond products. They specialize in harvesting, processing, salting, roasting, drying, cooking, canning, and shipping almonds. In addition to almond products, BDG also produces a diverse range of nut butters, crackers, and almond milk bases. Due to the complexities of their production, their facilities are energy-intensive with around-the-clock operations that drive significant utility demand and contribute to substantial operating costs.
To strengthen efficiency and sustainability across BDG’s operations, Imperion conducted comprehensive energy assessments at the Sacramento, Turlock, and Salida facilities. The assessments included desktop reviews of the electricity and natural gas usage, site visits, identification of energy conservation measures, baseline energy consumption benchmarks, reports including recommendations, estimated energy and GHG emission savings, and a list of supplemental funding opportunities to help support their efforts.
The assessment also provided clear next steps, laying out the systems that require immediate action as well as future recommended actions.
The Imperion project team supported the comprehensive energy assessments and identified opportunities for $1.2M in estimated annual energy cost savings.
